INVISALIGN®

What is Invisalign®?

Invisalign® treatment is a virtually invisible way to correct your teeth. Using advanced 3D computer imaging technology, Invisalign® shows you your complete treatment plan based on the prescription of your Invisalign Provider®, from the initial position of your teeth to the desired final position. A series of transparent aligners tailored to your teeth are then designed to move them little by little to the projected final position.

The treatment time depends on your specific needs and will be determined by your Invisalign Provider®.

How does Invisalign® work?

Invisalign® aligners move teeth through a series of carefully controlled movements. Unlike traditional braces, Invisalign® treatment not only controls the amount of movement originated by each aligner, but also controls when the movement occurs. In this way, only certain teeth can move in each phase, according to the Invisalign® treatment plan for that specific phase.

What are the benefits of Invisalign®?

Invisalign® aligners are virtually invisible and usually almost no one notices that you are using them. As Invisalign® Aligners are removable, you can eat and drink whatever you want during treatment by simply removing the aligners. You can also remove the aligners to brush your teeth and use dental floss as usual to maintain your oral hygiene routine.

Unlike traditional fixed appliances, there are no brackets or arches, which means that in most cases you spend less time in the clinic to make adjustments. Finally, the Invisalign® system allows you to see your virtual results and treatment plan before starting it.

How much does Invisalign® cost?

Like other types of orthodontic treatment, the cost of Invisalign® treatment depends on the complexity of your dental correction and the course of treatment. However, only an Invisalign Provider® can accurately determine the cost.

What are the aligners made of and what do they look like?

The virtually invisible aligners are made of a strong medical grade thermoplastic material developed exclusively for the Invisalign® system. The aligners are tailored to your needs and fit comfortably in your teeth.
How often do I have to go for appointments with my Invisalign Provider® after starting treatment?
Generally, patients go to their Invisalign Provider® appointment every 6 to 8 weeks to ensure that their treatment is progressing as planned and to receive the next set of aligners, but your Invisalign Provider® will decide based on your treatment.

How long does the Invisalign® treatment take?

The duration depends on the complexity of the treatment and is generally comparable to traditional devices.

Is the Invisalign® treatment painful?

Some people may experience a slight temporary discomfort for a few days after a new liner has been placed at each new stage of treatment. This feeling is normal and is usually described as a feeling of pressure. It is a sign that the aligners are working and usually disappears after a few days.

Once the Invisalign® treatment is complete, is it necessary to use a retainer (containment device)?

Yes. The use of a retainer after any orthodontic treatment is an important step because it keeps the teeth stable in their new positions. In many cases, your last aligner will serve as a temporary retainer until the most suitable retainer option is determined for you in the long term.

My teeth moved after removing the retainer. Can Invisalign® treatment correct this?

Yes. Several Invisalign® patients have had orthodontic appliance treatments before. Invisalign® can usually correct the dislocation that occurs after removal of the braces, called relapse.

What is the best way to clean my aligners?

Brushing, rinsing through warm water and using Invisalign® cleaning crystals or special cleaning tablets is the best way to clean your aligners. It is important to brush your teeth after each meal before replacing the wipers to maintain good oral hygiene.

Are there any restrictions on what I can eat during treatment?

No. Unlike traditional braces with brackets and bows, the Invisalign® system allows you to eat whatever you want during treatment because you can remove the aligners to eat and drink. This removal also allows you to easily brush your teeth and floss after each meal to maintain good oral hygiene before replacing the aligners.

How often should I use dental aligners?

You should always use your dental flossers during treatment, except for eating and oral hygiene. Recommended daily use is 22 hours.
